Date of discontinuance of support for RecFind 4.0 and all previous releases

June 30, 2005

After this date GMB will no longer accept support calls for RecFind 4.0 or any previous version of the RecFind product group, (e.g., 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.2).

Explanation

Our standard policy is that we provide full support for the current version (e.g., 5.0.0E) and only limited support for the previous version (e.g., 5.0.0D). In other words, once a new release is out we 'freeze' all development on the previous version. Please see the PDF document on our website at:
http://www.gmbsupport.com/support/gmbmtceservices.pdf

The same situation applies to previous, older versions (e.g., version 4.0).

Periodically, we also drop support altogether for old versions. For example, we dropped support for version 3.2 in June 2003. See our website at:
http://www.gmbsupport.com/Support/supportdiscontinuation.htm

RecFind 3.2 was a special case because the upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0 was a difficult one. We therefore carried 3.2 for many years to assist customers and give them plenty of time to make the upgrade. However, the upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0 is an easy one. RecFind 5.0 simply installs over the top of 4.0. There is therefore no reason whatsoever to extend the support of version 4.0 because we have now released five versions of RecFind 5.0 (A, B, C, D and E). All customers who had 4.0 and an ASU have now been sent at least several upgrades of 5.0 and have had ample time and opportunity to upgrade.

What products does this discontinuance involve?

  • RecFind-Corporate 4.0
  • RecFind-Professional 4.0
  • RecQuery 4.0
  • RecQuery-TC 4.0
  • RecFind-Button 4.0
  • HSSM 4.0

What should customers still on 3.2 (or an earlier version) now do?

If you were shipped RecFind 5.0.0E under an Automatic Software Upgrade (ASU) agreement, you should install RecFind 5.0.0E as soon as possible. Note that there have been five releases of RecFind 5.0 as follows:

  • 5.0.0A - 5th June 2003
  • 5.0.0B - 6th October 2003
  • 5.0.0C - 16th April 2004
  • 5.0.0D - 8th September 2004
  • 5.0.0E - 23rd February 2005

Each release contained fixes and enhancements. RecFind 5.0.0E is the latest release and the recommended release for your upgrade from RecFind 4.0.

If you have an earlier lease of RecFind 5.0 than RecFind 5.0.0E or if you have lost or misplaced your copy of RecFind 5.0.0E then please contact GMB’s support department who will build and ship you a replacement for a production, handling and shipping fee of $150.

If you do not have an ASU and did not receive a shipment of RecFind 5.0.0E please contact GMB’s sales Department for details of special offers and incentives to upgrade.
