Sydney, July 7, 2003: Frank McKenna, GMB's CEO today announced
the release of the RecQuery TC API, an object-orientated way to easily
and quickly 'connect' RecFind to other systems and transfer data. It
allows another application to expose File and Document objects within
the RecFind database via a series of HTTP calls to RecQuery TC.
With the demise of GMB's OLE
engine (there just weren't that many products, other than RecFind, that
were OLE compliant so GMB were fighting a losing battle) GMB began the
design of a new way for RecFind to integrate to other applications. In
order to meet the expectations of prospects and customers GMB designed this new product to be object-oriented (avoiding the hassles of
traditional APIs) and a 'Thin-client' product based on RecQuery TC,
GMB's document portal.
This first release of the RQTC API supports the
'exposing' of RecFind objects via HTTP calls to RecQuery TC. It allows
you to programmatically call up any file folder profile, document
profile (and attachments) and display them in RecQuery TC within a
browser. It is a way to easily and quickly 'RecFind-enable' any other
product.
In simple terms, the RQTC API provides the ability for
customers utilizing RecFind to create a link from an existing
application to information that is stored within the RecFind data
repository. This is achieved by using RecQuery TC and calling a web site
address with special parameters.
The RQTC API is now GMB's main
integration engine and they will continue to add functionality throughout
the next 9 to 12 months until it is possible to manage all RecFind
functions (both reading and writing records) via this methodology.
